Message: After my complaint about the confiscations, one of the staff members bragged that the shelter is untouchable after getting a perfect 100 on the Callahan Inspection. My complaint today is once again about the laundry. Ms. Taylor would not budge on allowing people without work passes to do their laundry on a weekday, in spite of the fact that two of the four washers were broken all weekend, making it so half as many people could do their laundry in the alotted time. Everybody to whom Ive spoken thinks this is a really stupid policy. In what way is it ethical for a company making 3,500 a month off my presence to leave me the only choice of washing my underwear out in the sink (or spend 1/4 of my monthly income on laundry outside the facility)? As I see it, the primary purpose of the shelter is to keep a homeless person clean and presentable. NAICA is an abject failure at this and shows what a crock the Callahan Inspection truly is.
