I haven’t had a chance to watch this yet, given my limited computer access, but deregulation and privatization are the major cause of the income gap and increases in homelessness, so I have to reblog this.

Life & Debt examines the impact of the International Monetary Fund  and the  World Bank  on the Jamaican economy. Loans to the country from these institutions came with special terms, including lifting restrictions on trade, deregulation and privatisation. Instead of improving the social and economic situation in Jamaica, production moved overseas leading to increased unemployment and reduced infrastructure. In the name of globalisation and free trade  we witness the destruction that came with these unsuccessful reforms. Click on the image below, then click ‘continue to file’ to watch the full movie:
